I’m thrilled to share a project that has been a long time in the making. Two years ago, my friend and a wonderful artist, Jami Milne, was the artist-in-residence at Ballet Des Moines. (Side note: Artists, check out that program–it’s very cool and worth doing.) She took incredible photos of the professional dancers during her time in the program and since then I have been trying to find a way to work with this series.

(P.S. If you want to learn more about the artist, we interviewed her this week!)

Location: Des Moines Social Club. Jami Milne

I am so proud of this collaboration and how things turned out. The pieces have been wheatpasted on to the walls and will deteriorate over time. Depending on surfaces, some will have more lasting power than others. There are 10 dancers around the city and can be found at the locations below.

Location: RoCA. Jami Milne.

This was such a passion project for both Jami and me and we are very grateful to the project sponsors Ballet Des Moines and the Downtown Neighborhood Association. We are also so grateful to the business owners who let us use their walls for the project. I hope they bring joy to many people in this city and give you the urge to dance right along with them.
