In the Winter 2019 issue of Do It Yourself magazine we were invited to share our DIY wreath ideas. The project was so much fun – with so many wreaths. We featured five non-traditional wreath ideas you could try this season that really aren’t time suckers. (Even the non-DIYers could do it, we promise.) It just takes a little thinking outside the box!

One of our favorites was recently featured on DIY’s Instagram – the minimalist floral wreath.

What you need:

  • Red felt poinsettias
  • Wood hoop
  • Florist tape
  • Wire
  • Hot glue
  • Faux greenery or holly
  • Ribbon
  • Glitter letter stickers

Attach *red felt poinsettias (which you can learn how to make at BHG.com/feltwreath) to a basic wood hoop using florist tape and wire. Then hot-glue faux greenery behind the flowers and a ribbon across the top of the hoop. On the ribbon, attach glitter letter stickers – it could be your family’s name or a holiday phrase (like our “Noel” example). Finally, add a length of ribbon to the top for hanging the wreath. And ta-da! One modern wreath later, you win the holiday DIY prize.

*The felt poinsettias make a great DIY piece that you can include throughout all of your holiday decor as a theme!
